Losing a pet is devastating, and could it get any worse than having it happen during the Covid-19 pandemic. So just heading to the shelters is no longer an option. This may require an appointment.
The San Diego Humane Society has a link available to view found pets in the San Diego area.
So if you are in that area go to sdhumane.org
Some shelters in Los Angeles have recommended for those who have found OR lost a pet to download and use the free ShadowApp.
Another good App to put the word out is
NextDoor
Veterinary clinics are another option.
Some people just don’t like to take found pets to the shelter because they will be placed in a kennel. Instead, they choose to call local shelters and veterinary clinics letting them know they have a found pet in their care. So calling around to local veterinary clinics is strongly suggested, along with flyers etc.
Is your microchip information correct?? I sure hope that is something you ALWAYS keep in mind when owning a pet.
But if your pet has a microchip that hasn’t been updated with the current address and phone number, call and update it ASAP! Your veterinarian should have your pets microchip number in their data base.
If you have found a lost pet, ALWAYS have them scanned for a microchip, to hopefully reunite them with their owner.
Always plan ahead for the Fourth of July to keep your pets safe
